If your hair has some brown and auburn in it, your going to pull alot of orange and gold. You will need to stay away from any "Natural, or golden, warm blonde colors". First question, do you have color already in the hair? If you do, you will not be able to lift color with color - it will not happen. If you don't, are you planning to go mediumish blonde or really light blonde? This makes a difference because color itself will only lighten up to a couple of shades. So if you are a medium brown/auburn now, the best you can hope for is a light brown. The only way to really lighten the hair and further is to use bleach. Bleach is very tricky and deceiving, therefore, I would seriously recommend getting a hairstylist to do this one. On the scalp bleaching can cause blisters and from when you put it in to your roots to your ends is a balancing act, you need to know what you're doing. Pay the extra money and get it right the first time. Picking a hairstylist to do this job is your next feat. You need someone who knows what they're doing. Ask for someone who specializes in bleach. Ask then how long they have been doing it. I know this sounds bold, but ask another stylist if they agree. By their reaction, you will be able to tell if this person knows what they are doing. Be sure after the bleach your hair, that they DO NOT use an ash base toner....or if they do they pull it off as fast as they put it on. This is the one that'll turn hair green and many new hairstylist do this mistake at least once.

You need to know how coloring works. First you will have to bleach your hair out. This is called lifting. Then you will have to color the bleached hair the shade of blonde you want. All home dying kits come with both. If you do "copper blonde" or anything else red based, it sounds like your hair could come out orange... if it does, you'll have to use toner afterwards. If you are trying to lift your hair more than 3 shades, you should consider going to a professional. If you do decide to do it yourself, do NOT use the Ion line by Sally Beauty. All the shades are too ashy and your hair will turn green.

I have the same type of hair the only thing that worked for me was Clairol Professional BW2. It is a powder you mix with peroxide. I used 40 volume peroxide. You can not find these products in your typical drug store. I got mine at sally's beauty supply.

i would prefer (when dying BLOND) a hair saloon, bcoz they uses sm particular product that can easily dye your hair blonde or the color u want.if not from a saloon then u can trust only Garniar Multi lights (kit-1),coz there is a kind of bleach salt that can easily color ur hair blond.

Loreal true match hair color works really good.

If your hair is colored now there is not way for you to color it yourself. Hair color will not lighten the color of previously colored hair. You'll end up with maybe blonde roots if you have any regrowth-but that's about it. Go see a pro. they can gently remove the color from your hair in steps, and tone it to the nice blonde that you want. Please don't try to remove it yourself...I have done it before and I'm a stylist-you can't do it like someone else can, not even I could. My hair was dark dark brown the other day and I had a co-worker do my hair and it's awesome. We have an awesome color remover that is unlike anything you can get even at a sally's and my hair is now next to platinum and it feels great!! even after using a color remover and bleaching it twice! The chemicals that pro's use are so much better for you, not to mention they know what they are doing : )
