I want to die my hair blond...?

I have have burnette hair. I died it platinum blond out of the box... it turned goldish orange...

Alot of people are telling me I need to bleach it first... I don't want to be a bleach blond but I don't know how else to keep it from turning gold...

Any ideas?

first, anytime you go lighter you are bleaching your hair. and even when you are going perm. darker you are using the same product thats used for "bleaching". ok, if your hair is very dark you will need to lighten it first, using high volume peroxide (the ingredient everyone calls bleach) your hair will have to go through all stages of the spectrum, orange is before white. once the hair gets as light as you want it to be you will have to use a toner to achieve the color you want. to get that color you have to have knowledge of color theory, such as bases and levels. so it would be a good idea to go to your stylist to get it done.

ye you would look pretty with blonde hair. but you have to bleach your hair first, then dye it whichever color you like.

for quick results y0ou have to bleach or go professional...or if you want to continue to box dye go with the color that matches the shade your at now go about 2 shades lighter than wait a month go another 2 shades lighter ect ect until youve reaached your color desire...your best bet though go pro...they can put a toner in to make your hair not be orangy like, cause most brunettes have naturak red tones which means the lighter(blonder) you go it will bring out the red tones which will make you more of a strawberry blonde than an actual blonde, but to save time and money i def suggest a professional, have fun enjoy it being blonde is alot of fun!!!

You have to keep up the dye jobs, and then you could end up with over processed hair, and to me, I'd rather stick with a more natural color, and have healthy hair. I dye mine but use the Semi-permanent, or the wash out. But if you want it, nobody can change your mind, but if you want a good job, you may have to go to a salon. good luck

if you have dark hair then i would go to the hairdressers do go blonde because you would have to bleach the hair before dying it another light colour which is why going blonde is so damaging on hair x

the word bleach, means to remove color. so if you want your hair blond you are bleaching it. the box colors will at most go 4or5 shades lighter from brown to blond is over 9 shades. the golden orange blond did not go far enough. try having it done at a salon. or tint it to a dark blond. it will be easy and would look better if you have a brunettes skin coloring

The "beautician" above is right about the process you will have to go through to fix your problem, but she is wrong about lightening- just because you're lightening, doesnt mean youre bleaching. you can lighten with color, it just has to be virgin hair, but that's not bleaching.
