How to color your hair blond with turning brassy? What product to use.?

I am wondering how to keep my hair blond by the roots, by my self without turning it brassy. I live in a small town and there is only one beauty shop in town and I got my hair color from a brown to a light blond there, she did awesome but I don't want to pay 135.00 every month to keep it blond. What can I use to do the same job and where can I get the product to do so? Thank you so much for your help.

LEMON JUICE....WHAT!!!!! don't do that. get a box color from the drug store light or extra light ash blond ,the ash is important because the blue and purple base in the color counteract with yellow and orange, if after that you are still brassy you will need to get highlights because color just wont lift you high enough,

Go to a beauty supply store like and what you'll need to purchase is:

Some sort of powder bleach, developer (possibly two different ones. One for the bleach and one for the toner.), toner (this will determine what shade of blonde you'll actually be, and it's what takes the brass out.) You'll also need a really good conditioner for afterwards. If you have any questions just ask the person working at the beauty supply shop, they should know what they're talking about.
