i'm not sure i'll look okay, but i can worry about that later, what i was wondering was is it possilble to dye brown hair blonde without bleaching it then dyeing it blond? and whats the best way to dye it blonde? this may seem like a rhetorical question to some of you but i have noo idea!

dont do it. I have been down that road. It leaves a red tint in your hair. No matter how much you cover it with dark brown (when u decide you dont want the blonde anymore) It is not a pretty red either. It looks like you ruined your hair. It is very bad. DO NOT DO IT!!

this is what you do. gwet highlights all over, and i mean alot all over and just keep doing that for a couple of months till your completly blonde. the best way to get your hair lighter is to bleach it. if your hair is naturally brown you should not have to worry about crazy amounts of damage.

I did the same thing and my hair wouldnt go back to brown.. it took about 3 years for some of my color to come in it is just suck a hassle, it looked great but i missed my brunett color after some time.

Try high lights they are better for your hair because going blond sometimes ruins your hair with the stuff thats in it

The only real way to tell is by looking at your hair and how blonde you want to be. Permanent color can only lift up to four levels any more lift than that will require bleaching and possibly a toner.

there are a lot to look into. does your brown hair have a red base? maybe gold? more neautral? if you've never dyed your hair before, and the brown is natural, you can achieve the blonde. it's just a matter of picking out the right color. if you have dye on your hair now, you won't be able to without bleach. because color can't lift color. and if you do bleach it, and there's any amount of red in your hair... over the counter box color will turn it orange-red-blonde. it's always best to let a beautician do their work on your hair, but if you're on a budget and really need it done... just make sure you read the boxes and follow their directions.

I have brown hair also and am wanting to go blonde. I want a Jenny McCartney blonde color. I know that she is not a natural blonde. I just wish I knew what color she uses. What color blonde would you say her hair is? I have had highlights before that turned my hair really white blonde so I know it can happen. The only thing is they had to leave the chemicals on my hair for like double the time they were supposed to waiting for it to lift to a color I was happy with. It was fine after that. I never noticed any damage from it. Granted that was years ago. I have tiny bits of highlights in my hair now but they are growing out. I want to go all Jenny McCartney I just hope I can pull off her cut and the color. I guess I will see really soon. I will let you know how my color goes if you like. Wish me luck!
