How do I get really blond hair?

I keep telling my hairdresser that I want my hair lighter, but it never happens. I'm happy with the color when I first leave the salon but then it seems to darken. I've been getting highlights every three months.

My skin color doesn't look good with my dark, dishwater blond natural color.

Do I need to stop getting highlights and just start getting it dyed or bleached? If so, how often will I have to do it to prevent unsightly roots? thanks.

bleach it yourself. thats what i do. its easy. do it once every two weeks to touch up the roots. or just go swimming a lot so the chlorine will bleach it out. lol.

the swimming thing doesnt work so good for blondes.

it kinda turns your hair green :/

but staying out in the sun does help, just keep wearing sunblock..otherwise you'll be one of those really tan really blonde girls.

eww.

anyway..try sun-in.

or just squirt some lemon in your hair. that helps too.

bleaching works, but it damages your hair a lot.

I have the same problem!

Maybe try doing it yourself? It's worth a try :)

I'm naturally dark-haired, so when I wanted to go blonde, I used a mixture of bleach and powder peroxide, bought from Sally's hair and beauty supplies (I'm from England, by the way..) and it made my hair very VERY light.

I wouldn't recommend going out and doing this if you don't know a lot about hair care - my cousin is a hairdresser, she told me what to buy, and then mixed and applied it for me.

If you're naturally dark blonde, and you want to be lighter all over, it might be an idea to buy a hairdye from Boots or a supermarket, they're relatively easy to use, and if your natural hair colour isn't too dark, you can probably get your hair nice and light. I'd recommend Clairol Nice and Easy (2 boxes if you've got long or thick hair) and a friend who's willing to apply it - it's a nightmare dying your own hair, you almost always miss bits at the back!

You'll probably need to touch up your roots every month or so, if you're worried about your natural colour showing.

It might also be worth buying shampoo specifically for blonde or lightened hair :)

buy a very blonde wig

right sounds like ur hairdresser is using a highlift tint and not bleach. Tint tends to fade with time like any hair colour, so ask if she'll use bleach on ur hair.

please dont try and do it @ home tho cos the likely hood of mistakes is huge.
